Feather Directions
step 1 STEP 1. We chose to make a bunny, chick and little piggy for our treat jars. Marabou feather boas were selected to match each animal. We cut 19 inches of boa to be glued around a 2 inch Styrofoam ball to make each animal head. Apply a dab of glue onto the top of the Styrofoam ball and attach the feather boa. Continue to apply glue around the ball, pressing the boa into the glue until you reach the bottom and completely cover the ball. Push pins can be helpful to keep the boa in place while the glue dries.
step 2 STEP 2. Decorate the lid with colorful ribbon by gluing it around the rim of the lid. Next glue the feathered styrofoam ball onto the lid.
step 3 STEP 3. Shape the animal arms and pig tail by wrapping pipe cleaners around a pen to create a spiral. Glue the arms onto each side of the lid. And of course, the pig tail gets glued to the back of its lid.
step 4 STEP 4. Create the animal faces with felt and feathers by cutting out shapes and gluing them to the feather balls. We used dark pink felt to cut out a the circular shape of the pig’s snout. For the pigs ears and feet, we used light and dark pink felt to give more character. Black felt was used for the eyes by using a hole punch to cut two small circles. Once the shapes are cut out, dab some glue onto the head.
step 5 STEP 5. Decorate and label the jars. We used colorful (brand of tape) to wrap around the middle of the jars. We then print out festive Easter labels to personally address each treat jar. If you used plain paper rather than sticky labels to print on, use (type of glue) on the back of the label to adhere onto the tape. Fill up your jar with Easter candy. Now you can enjoy your Easter treat jar. You can also use the jars as piggy bank after the treats are gone. We used Easter labels by Lia Griffith https://liagriffith.com/printable-easter-labels-and-round-stickers/.
